Let Them Watch

Lately, I’ve been walking through something that has tested me deeply, not because of heartbreak or loss, but because of the constant feeling of being watched, discussed, and monitored by people connected to a chapter of my life that has already closed, yet who continue to keep tabs on me despite the fact that my story was never theirs to carry.

It’s a strange thing to feel the weight of people observing your life while pretending they don’t care.

To know there are eyes on you.

Conversations about you.

Assumptions about you.

And even generations being pulled into it.

What goes unhealed in one person often has a way of touching everyone around them.

A cycle.

And for a while, I wrestled with it.

I wanted to defend myself.

To explain.

To expose.

To fight back.

There came a point where it became too much, and I finally spoke up. I stood my ground, spoke my truth, and handled it with grace and respect. While there was a moment where my hurt and frustration showed after constant insults and name-calling, I never lost sight of who I am or what I stand for.

My response came from a place of hurt, but also from a place of truth, and God knows my heart in all of it.

At the end of the day, we’re all human. There are moments when we feel the need to speak up, defend ourselves, and protect our peace when boundaries have been crossed over and over again.

It was never rooted in hatred.

It was rooted in exhaustion.

But afterward, God reminded me that not every battle is mine to fight.

Some battles belong to Him.

And some battles belong to the people creating them.

This one was never mine to carry.

It was theirs: their wounds, their insecurity, their fixation, their chaos.

And I cannot heal what I did not break.

I can only guard my peace and trust God with the rest.

But God keeps reminding me of something:

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.” – Psalm 23:5

Not in their absence.

Not after they leave.

Not once they stop looking.

But in their presence.

Meaning sometimes God will bless you while they watch.

He will heal you while they watch.

He will restore you while they watch.

And He will elevate you while they watch.

That truth has changed me.

Because I realized their watching is not my burden.

Their obsession is not my assignment.

My assignment is obedience.

My assignment is healing.

My assignment is keeping my heart pure even when others move from a place of bitterness, insecurity, or dysfunction.

That doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt.

It does.

It’s unsettling.

It’s frustrating.

And at times, it feels unfair.

But I serve a God who sees everything. Every hidden motive, every whispered conversation, every scheme, every pain.

And He is not confused.

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” – Isaiah 54:17

Not gossip.

Not stalking.

Not slander.

Not manipulation.

Not obsession.

What the enemy means for harm, God will always use for good. Always.

And maybe that’s what this season has taught me most.

Not everyone watching your journey is watching with pure intentions.

Some people watch to compare.

Some people watch to judge.

Some people watch because they cannot understand what they cannot control.

I bent.

I wrestled.

But I didn’t break.

Because God held me.

And if they’re watching now, let them.

Let them watch God restore what they thought would destroy me.

Let them watch Him open doors they prayed would stay shut.

Let them watch Him prepare my table.

Because what God has for me cannot be blocked, stolen, or touched by hands committed to misunderstanding me or by hands that never even knew my heart.

At the end of the day, the only person I can control is me.

My heart.

My peace.

My joy.

My response.

I cannot control what others do, what they say, how they move, or what motives they carry.

But I can control whether I let it steal from me.

My peace is too valuable.

My joy is too sacred.

And my healing cost too much to hand it over to people who never had the right to hold it in the first place.

So I release what was never mine to carry.

I choose peace.

I choose boundaries.

I choose trust.

So if you’re walking through something similar, let them.

Let them watch.

Let them talk.

Let them misunderstand.

Just let them.

Because at the end of the day, God knows your heart.

He sees your intentions, your pain, the battles you fight in silence, and the ones you chose to walk away from. You are not forgotten.

Make no mistake, nothing goes unseen by Him.

What is hidden in darkness will always come to light.

And what is meant for you will never be touched by hands that were never meant to hold it.

So protect your peace.

Guard what God is growing in you.

Lead with the purest of intentions.

And trust that God is handling what you no longer have to.

Because the same God who carried me through betrayal, heartbreak, trauma, and loss is the same God carrying me now.

And He has never failed me yet.

Let them,

Jenn
